“The alms (zakat) are only for the poor and needy and those employed to collect, and for those whose hearts are inclined, and to free the captives, and for those in debt and for Allah’s cause and for the wayfarer; a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.” Surah Taubah: Ayat 60

This term Pre-Primary students at Al-Hidayah Islamic School have been learning about Zakat, one of the Duties of a Muslim. They are learning who Zakaah may be given to and how to divide their wealth in a way that is pleasing to Allah (swt). They also learnt how to calculate 2.5% from $100 to be given in Zakaah.

We used the story “Ilyas & Duck in A Zakat Tale” to explain the effect on the community when we don’t pay our Zakaah.
