Al-Hidayah Islamic School with the help of Food Bank, conducted two sessions on healthy eating. The first session was targeted towards the 6/7 girls. The girls of both classes had a hands-on food preparation activity where they had to analyse what is a healthy lunch/dinner and how we can make healthy eating part of our life.
The second session was targeted towards the junior primary mums. The mums learnt to be vigilant about the sugar content and the various ingredients found in most school lunch box items. Insha'Allah with this kind of knowledge about healthy eating , the school students will feel healthier and the parents will support the "NO JUNK FOOD POLICY" of the school.
It is necessary to ensure that the physical body is kept healthy so that the soul and spirit may also remain healthy thus in turn aiding the believer in the service of both his spiritual and material attainment. Diet therefore, plays an important role for this purpose. For this reason Islam has prohibited certain foods due to their ill effects and permitted all other pure, good and clean food products.
Allah Ta’ala says in the Noble Qur’ân:
“O’ Believers! Eat of the good and pure (lawful) that We have provided you with and be grateful to Allah, if you truly worship Him.” (2:172)
